One day the TV-Set seemed to be broken. Just the moment before the little girl wanted to call a TV-Service the doorbell rang. When she opened a stranger stood there, smiling. "May I introduce myself? My name is Mr. Sense." "Oh, are you?" "Yes indeed. May I come in?" "Why I should let you? What kind of business you are in?" The man in his old-fashioned suit lifted his hat. Gentleman-style, the little girl thought. "My business is to give answers. For free. It would make sense to let me come in, referring to your first question." The little girl wanted to close the door. She guessed, that this guy was in a questionable mental condition. "Wait!" She waited, although she didn´t exactly know why. "I know, that your TV needs to be fixed. I can help you with that." Now the situation definetely became spooky. "How do you know?", the little girl asked. "I´m Mr. Sense, did you forget? Don´t be afraid." She believed him, not knowing why again. However, she let the man come into the house. He fixed the TV. "What kind of answers do you give?" the girl asked, curious about the remarks the man had made earlier. "The right ones." "Do you know everything?" "Yes." "Then why do you go around, fixing peoples TV sets and give answers for free? You could get really rich really fast with your knowing everything." "Of course I could. It´s in the nature of knowing everything. The more you know, the less you care. Being rich is the least desirable state I know." "Come on. Everybody is dreaming of being rich!" "Maybe. But dreaming differs from being." The girl seemed to be impressed. "My name is Miranda." "I know. Mine is Mr. Sense as I told you before." "May I ask you another question?" "As many as you like." "Why did you ring at my door?" "Because it made sense." "I don´t see the sense in walking around, ringing at peoples doors you don´t even know. What if I hadn´t open the door?" "You opened it. I convinced you to." "Does that always work?" "Guess." "How does it feel? I mean, to know everything?" "It doesn´t feel as good as some people dogmatise, who don´t know anything at all." "Well, can you give me any good hints for the future?" "I could give you all hints for the future. But I suggest one important principle to you: Learn to decide." "Learn to decide? That sounds like something of a paper scrap in a fortune cookie. What does it mean?" "The problem is, that when I ring at peoples houses, answer their questions and all that sort of thing, there is the great danger that those people stop thinking for themselves. They´re too used to obey, to believe things somebody tells them. If you do whatever you suppose to be right, you probably do the best you can." "You´d better go now." "I see, you got the idea.", the strange Mr. Sense said, left the house, pedalled away on a rusted bicycle, leaving another deep thinker.
